Team grows: Development

Ann-Sofie Fonsen, PhD, has been appointed as the Development Director for Montinutra Ltd. Ann-Sofie’s academic background and thesis themed on the modification of wood sugars, provides an excellent starting point to develop Spruce and other wood-based side stream products. Previously Ann-Sofie was working for Mirka in the development of glues for the abrasive products.

 “In the future we need to utilize biomass more effectively than we do today. We need to exploit the potential of also the non-cellulosic polymers in biomass. Polysaccharides are non-toxic, biocompatible, and we know how to isolate them efficiently. Now the next step is to develop commercial applications where they replace less sustainable raw materials” , says Ann-Sofie.
